obligatory "i love fall" post

Well, fall is officially here! And I am as excited as everyone else about the cozy wonders that come along with this glorious season. You know them well...the warm drinks, snuggles by the fire, fluffy socks, pumpkin everything, flannel as far as the eye can see, baked treats galore, crispy leaves beneath your feet...and the list goes on and on.

For those who do not have season changes the way we do, I pity you. I truly do. Autumn in the Pacific Northwest is simply magical. Just the smell of crisp fall air gets me all excited.

What are you most looking forward to this season?

oh. hey.

So I blog here. Sometimes.

I haven't been here in awhile. Last week was ridiculous and annoying and stressful and all that fun stuff. But I won't bore you with details. This week has already started out much, much better and maybe I will resume my usual couple of posts a week.

I used to go for the whole blog five days in a row thing. But ever since Lance and I each doubled our work hours that pretty much went out the window. We no longer lead blog worthy lives let alone have time to blog. Ha! Like, literally, we just work, sleep, repeat. How normal of us. But I do like blogging and sharing pretty pictures and random thoughts or inspirations. I just like doing it only when I actually want to. Obviously. Sometimes that might mean 5 posts a week and other times 2. Or, like last week, none.

Not that anyone actually cares how often I blog and I'm not one of those people that is like, "oh my goshhh, I am sooo sorry I haven't been around. Forgive me?!". Because, honestly, who cares? But, in case anyone did wonder why I'm such a sporadic blogger, I'm just filling you in. I spend more time hanging out and working behind the scenes on my mom's blog than my own. Because it's actually legit.

(What I'm saying is, you should probably go visit The Inspired Room right NOW. *shameless plug*)

my reaction to a slobbery jack kiss. not a fan of dog germs even if he is adorable. and he is adorable, is he not?!

Anyway. I had a lovely weekend with my family, but unfortunately Lance came down with my sickness from last week and is taking his first sick day off work today. I am taking caring of him while working from home. He has completely lost his voice so not much communicating going on around here (making it much easier for me to concentrate on work!).

Aaannd...that's all! Hope you're having a fantastic Monday!

Here's what life looks like these days according to Instagram!

Mostly I've just been working and nesting. For right now, we have decided to stay in our apartment (bittersweet as it saves us money, but also means continuing to live in the darkness...). Since we are staying for a least a little while, we have been working on making it a more ideal space for our needs. Because I work from home a lot of the time I decided to create a space other than my dining table and bed to work in and by moving furniture around we now have a new "office space". This also created some extra space for storage, which has helped us to get way more organized!

Food clearly excites me these days and inspires a lot of my pictures (a perk of working from home is making delicious breakfasts and lunches!). Overall, life is good. The only thing that would make it better? If fall would hurry up and get here. I just want to wear boots and scarves. ASAP.

Happy Friday!

Fig Pizza Recipe

Oh, hey blogland. Long time no see. Today I'm sharing a pizza "recipe" (ignore the terrible quality of the photo above). It's hardly a recipe and I didn't even make the dough. Who do you think I am? I'm the girl who doesn't even have any baking staples like flour and sugar. It's a rare occasion I would ever create something so sophisticated as my own pizza dough. Who has time for that?! Okay, so there was a day when I may have had time for that. And if you do, then way more power to you. I'm jealous, actually.

Moving on...

I love figs. I've been waiting and waiting for us to get them in stores and they have finally arrived! Last year I made my first ever fig pizza and I was in some serious love with it. Here are the details (fair warning: my recipes aren't very "recipe-like" as I'm not usually into exact ingredients):

Fig, Goat Cheese, and Arugula Pizza

  • Pizza Dough (You can make it if you want, but feel free to use store-bought dough like I do)
  • Olive Oil
  • Fresh garlic or garlic powder
  • Mozzarella or any shredded cheese (optional)
  • Soft goat cheese
  • Fresh Figs
  • Fresh or dried rosemary*
  • Arugula

What to do with those ingredients

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  2. Flatten out your dough on a pizza stone or baking sheet.
  3. Spread olive oil and garlic over dough as a base (I used pesto instead on the pizza pictured above).
  4. Throw on some optional mozzarella or other shredded cheese, cut figs, crumbled goat cheese, and some rosemary (amounts are to your liking).
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until crust is golden brown.
  6. Top with handfuls of arugula.
  7. Eat.

1. Use pesto instead of the olive oil base.
2. Add caramelized onions.
3. Add prosciutto at the same time as the arugula.

*Don't skip the rosemary. Unless you hate rosemary, it's worth it.

It's All in the Details {Invitation Edition}

One of my absolute favorite parts of planning my wedding was designing the invitations. The style of invites are so important for setting the tone of any event. Here's a roundup of just a few of my favorite invitation designs. Aren't they fab?! Now I just need a party to plan...
