Friday's Letters

instagram: @kynoelle
Dear week, where did you even go?! I don't even know where the last few days have gone. Dear blog, I'm sorry that I forgot about you all week. Like I said, this week definitely got away from me. Dear husband, you take shopping even more seriously than I do. Our 4-hour excursion to obtain some interview digs last night was almost the end of me. Good thing I love you. Dear skin, let's stop getting rashes simply from being in the sun for five minutes, okay? It's weird. Dear whole wheat pasta, we have a love/hate relationship. I don't think I will order you from restaurants anymore. No offense. We can still be together when I make you at home. Dear bachelor Jef, how about you stop being so adorable? Dear grocery store workers, you can officially stop glaring at me now! I have finally remembered to bring my reusable bags into the store twice in a row. I'm on a roll (knock on wood).

just another manic monday

Manic Monday by Bangles on Grooveshark
i don't know why but this song was stuck in my head today. enjoy.

This weekend was pretty great if I do say so myself. It started out with a trip to the brand spankin' new HomeGoods store in Federal Way. Thanks to my design bloggin' mama being invited, my sister and I got to come along on a preview shopping spree before the store even officially opened! We were especially excited because HomeGoods was our favorite place ever back when we lived in Portland, but alas, up until now there was no such place here in Washington. But now that's all changed and I have a feeling I'm going to be there. A lot.

We had a great time. It was SUPER chaotic with people pushing and shoving their way around to get the best deals (Okay, not really. But it WAS crowded.). We made out quite well and pretty much filled the whole back of our car. I got an adorable polka dot pillow, some sheets and kitchen utensils and seriously considered taking home a fantastic whale printed dog bed for my nonexistent dog. Too bad it was too small for Jack because I'm sure he would have loved it. All the employees were so sweet to us and we even got sent home with a box full of delicious cupcakes!

The rest of the weekend was spent with the fam getting their house ready for their new hardwood floor installation. On Sunday we had a massive church organization day and made a huge dent on getting our building in order (which was much needed). It was definitely a very productive weekend, which I suppose isn't what you normally hope for on the weekend, but it was as relaxing as productivity can be. As oxymoronic as that seems.

Hope you all had a great weekend and that you're having an excellent Monday!

{Summer Bucket List: 6 Summer Eats}

It is the FIRST DAY OF SUMMER! And Seattle is promising some 75 degree weather to prove it! In keeping up with my weekly roundups for my summer bucket list, and in honor of summer day one, here are six amazing looking summer recipes I want to try. The figs! The goat cheese! Fresh salads! Peaches, pies and popsicles! Oh my goodness. Seriously salivating right now and may have to try one today.

Missed part one? Check out my list of 6 Summer Drinks!

for the love of pike

Last Friday we journeyed to Pike Place to pick up some flowers. This was a pretty big deal since Lance hates going anywhere resembling a farmer's market (but why?!?). It was a pretty day, which have been few and far between so we soaked up some rays while we could before I headed to my parent's for the weekend! Seriously though, it was a get in and get out kind of adventure per husband's insistence. Any therapists out there who might have some insight into FoFM (fear of Farmer's Markets) please, do share your wisdom as I would like to share my love of markets with my husband.

Father's Day

the kids and the dad

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a lovely weekend and a wonderful Father's Day. I know I did! On Sunday we went out to brunch with my parents and grandparents, took a walk out at the farmer's market, and then hung out at home. I am blessed to have a wonderful father (and grandfather!) and am glad we got to celebrate them.  Here are some photos from the day!

LATELY
Row 1: We ate lots of delicious breakfast, which just so happens to be my favorite meal of the day.
Row 2: Hung out with the sibs (including Jack!) and helped brother learn to ride his skateboard. Decided brother needs to become a model.
Row 3: Good drinks, good food. Time with my love and Muddy Buddies ftw.
Row 4: No theme here so figure it out yourself :)

These past 7 days or so have been quite excellent. Full of good food, good times and good people. I am blessed!

Summer Bucket List: 6 Summer Drinks

So yesterday was a bit depressing in terms of showing any promise for summer arriving any time soon. In order to cheer myself up and brighten my hopes that summer could (possibly) arrive, I went on a Pinterest scavenger hunt for some inspiration for the upcoming season. And I must say, I now have hope that regardless of the weather, I will be making this a special summer.

For the next few weeks I will be posting roundups of my summer bucket list each week. These are all things I hope to make, eat, wear or do throughout this summer! This week is all about the drinks. Lance and I are big into making fancy beverages of all kinds. Even if you're not down with the "adult" portion included in some of these beverages, I'm sure you can omit or make substitutions. While hubby and I will be perfectly content creating these beauties for just ourselves, wouldn't they be great for parties, weddings or bridal showers? I think so!

Friday's Letters

Dear ferry ticket seller, when I say I would like one adult ticket, I mean that I would like one adult ticket. Don't look at me and snicker. Don't ask if I'm sure I don't mean youth. Don't say "wowwwoowww you don't look a day over 16!!!!" like that. Yes, I'm sure I'm not 16. I'm 24 thankyouverymuch. I wouldn't lie about something that costs me more money. But maybe I should milk this youth ticket thing considering a variation of this conversation happens every. single. time. Dear ferry rider, please tell me why you chose to sit in the chair right next to me when there are at least 20 other empty spots far, far away from other passengers? I don't like it so I'm going to "go to the restroom" and never coming back. Dear husband, high five for our pro housekeeping skills this week! We should keep this up.  Dear self-tanner, in my attempt to become a bronzed goddess, you have made one of my feet orange and one is still as white as snow. I think this is a sign that I should embrace my ghostliness. Even if that means people thinking my real legs are white tights. I'm okay with that. I'm a vampire and I like it. #atleastimnotapumpkin Dear self, stop using hashtags on places other than Twitter. No one likes that.

she's just being miley

So, Miley Cyrus got engaged.

The first thing that goes through my head is...wait, isn't she, like, 19?!

The second thing that goes through my head is...oh, wait, wasn't I 19 when I got engaged?

The third thing that goes through my head is...great, now I know what all my friends were really thinking about me!

The fourth thing? I should probably stop being so judgmental.

Not that I condone getting married young. Statistically it's a very, very bad idea. Couple that with being a celebrity and you're almost asking for failure!

But best of luck to you Miley (and to Gale Liam too)!

anatomy of a day

yesterday i....

babysat the childrens.

wore a sweater and rainboots. is it really june?

squashed husband in our nightly jeopardy competition.

put my dinner dishes directly into the dishwasher! whoa. so did hubby.

considered making cookies but ate all the dough before i had even turned on the oven.

stared at my nails and wished they would paint themselves.

yay for mondays!

Unlike most, I breathe a sigh of sweet relief when Monday hits. This weekend was super busy and I feel like I haven't slept in days! I worked two concerts in a row. While they were pretty sweet, they went way too late for this grandma. Coffee and Coldstone got me through it all. The weekend wrapped up nicely with a gorgeous sunset and pizza with my love. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! xo

6 Months Down...

I can't believe we are already six months in to 2012! Craziness. Is the end of the world upon us? Given that half the year has already flown by, I thought this would be a good time to check in on how I've been doing on my 2012 goals... I'm kind of scared considering I haven't been thinking about them too much lately and I can't even remember what they are off the top of my head.

I'm going to exclude Lance from this check up since he's not here and I have no idea how his have been going. Although I wouldn't put it past me to evaluate him for myself, but I'll spare him my judgment. Okay, here goes....

Kylee's Resolutions:
1. Work out 3-5 times per week.
Psh. Fail. Of course "more exercise" is one of those mandatory resolutions, so I don't regret adding this to the list. But let's be honest, this just hasn't happened.

2. Make the bed every day.
This, however, has been a win! I shocked myself and have actually kept up on this one. I know, right?! Imaginary high fives all around.

3. Become best friends with my sewing machine.
We aren't really bffs yet, but I'm sure we will form a much closer bond by the end of the year!

4. Take more pictures. I make a terrible blogger because I never remember to whip out my camera and snap a picture of something. Plus I often miss capturing significant events that I will wish I could look back on in the future.
I have definitely taken more pictures this year than I have in my entire life's years combined. I'm sure it's been overkill.

Our Resolutions Together:
1. Get out of the house more and explore Seattle.
Yes, we have traipsed all over this rainy city! Now we just can't wait for the summer sun to do some outdoor exploration.

2. Take a vacation together.
Nope, not yet!

3. Read in the Bible together every night.
Eh, this went well for awhile and lately has taken a turn for the worst. But we are serious about doing better.

4. Make more couple friends in Seattle.
I wouldn't say we've made a lot of new friends, but have been making more efforts to spend time with ones we have! We are also now accepting applications for couple friends in the Seattle area as one of ours is leaving us soon! Must like sushi, mojitos, and scary movies. Possibly all at the same time. Terms negotiable if you're cool.
