First and foremost, I FINALLY got a haircut. It had been AGES. Like,
way, way, way too long. I always wait until my hair is good and dead
before cutting it (something I really should remedy!). It always feels
so light and fresh after a good haircut. I am quite pleased to say the
least.
On Thursday we went out for dinner and then gelato with two of our dear friends. It was a goodbye hang out as they are headed off to Southeast Asia and Australia for 6 months. Such adventurers those two. Before Lance got his job we seriously considered joining them. We might be a little bit jealous...
Over the weekend I went home to visit my family and we went on a lovely after-dinner walk to the beautiful Island Lake Park.
I spent one afternoon playing basketball with my little baby
brother. And, if you must know, I taught him everything he knows. He
may or may not be almost as tall as me. Don't wanna talk about it...
I witnessed a couple of {even-more-gorgeous-in-person} sunsets.
I had some quality cuddle time with this happy animal! Does this face not bring you the utmost joy?! Me too, me too.
And, dear, sweet 17-year-old Winston
decided to emerge from his bed a few times. During one such excursion he
managed to escape and run down the street to the lake, where he proceeded to JUMP
(according to the neighbor who witnessed said excursion) into the
water. This, mind you, is highly adventurous for a dog who can barely
see and who's legs periodically give out on him (bless his little
heart!).
The
possibilities: 1. He regained a moment of pure, unadulterated puppy bliss and
decided to take a little dip. 2. It's been a long 17 years and he's
finally sick enough of us to take matters into his own paws and commit
doggy suicide. 3. (the most likely scenario) He couldn't see the edge of
the dock and simply took one step too many and experienced quite a wet
surprise upon landing in the water.
Needless
to say, we almost lost Winston. Thank goodness for the neighbor who rescued him
from impending drowning. Three cheers for good neighbors!
We had a few too many desserts this weekend, because, well...we deserve it? Yes, yes we do. Helpful hint: you can justify any extravagance or overindulgence with the simple phrase "because I deserve it". Example: "Why, yes, I will buy that $350 J. Crew dress. Why? Because I deserve it." See how easy that is? Phew. It really makes life and decision-making so much easier. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
Aaaaand...after church on Sunday I hopped on a ferry home!
Now, go have a glass of wine. Or two. Because you deserve it.
Or, if it's too early for wine, feel free to have that venti mocha with extra whip. Because you definitely deserve it.

Oh my gosh, Winston! You little dare devil you. It's 7:35am and I have not left for work yet ... so I could probably still switch up my breakfast to include a glass of wine.
Oh and funny about "Winston" because I named our "pet" racoon that lives in our tree Winston.
I LOVE your haircut and your "you deserve it" attitude. Happy Monday :)

What a fun weekend! Those sunsets are AMAZING! I love summer sunsets. I can't believe there was a possible puppy suicide, poor little guy. In the end I'm sure he had a wild time and he feels rejuvenated haha! And I love your hair!! It looks gorgeous.
